Anyone planning to enter the Accounting or Payroll field must have good computer skills and be familiar with computerized accounting and automated payroll systems.
This program provides graduates with the necessary skills to maintain complete sets of books, keep records of accounts, verify the procedures used for recording financial transactions, and provide personal bookkeeping services. It also provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to perform payroll administrative responsibilities in the payroll department.
The student will write CPA’s exams to acquire the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. In addition to accounting and payroll expertise, students gain basic skills and experience in business correspondence, office procedures, performing a job search, and being successful in today’s workplace environment.
Business & Office Accounting ClerkThe objective of this program is to provide the student with opportunities to acquire and apply the knowledge of business accounting and office skills to meet the demands of today’s business.
Computerized AccountingThe objective of this program is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire knowledge of business concepts, as well as gain the necessary computerized accounting and office skills.

Its objective is to expose students to a vast array of business knowledge, management and administration skills, and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a business-related career.
Courses focus on professional skills required by today’s employers, including knowledge of how businesses utilize technology, e-commerce, business correspondence, office procedures, project management, and employment success strategies.
Human Resources AdministrationThis program offers individuals the opportunity to acquire the skills required by many companies that specialize in customer service and outbound marketing services and to provide skills to facilitate upward movement in their chosen profession. Graduates of this program have a varied choice of positions available to them including Inbound/Outbound marketing, Order Desk support, Reservations, and Outbound Sales. With additional experience, graduates may advance to Team Leaders, Supervisors, and eventually Managers of Call Centres.
Customer Service and Information ClerkThis program offers individuals the opportunity to acquire the skills required by many companies including those that specialize in customer service and outbound marketing services and to provide skills to facilitate upward movement in their chosen profession. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator credential is the premier certification for professionals who administer and support the Windows 2003 platform and Microsoft server software.
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)The MCSE credential is the premier certification for professionals who analyze business requirements and design and implement infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows® 2003 platform and Microsoft server software. Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.
The MCSE credential is one of the most widely recognized technical certifications in the industry. Network AdministratorThis program provides students with the necessary skill and knowledge to plan, install, and provide routine control over and manage exceptional situations in relation to quality communications network services in an information system. It provides in-depth knowledge on evaluating communications hardware, software and transmission service alternatives against changing business requirements; maintaining links with network suppliers; monitoring network performance; providing support for systems; localizing and rectifying faults in networks and handling non-routine user/customer problems; and providing expertise and practical assistance in delivering service that complies with statutory and other standards, as well as strategic and tactical plans.

The Conference and Event Planner Diploma is designed to prepare students for careers in the fast-paced and exciting world of conference and event management. This program appeals to individuals who are charismatic, outgoing, energetic, and entrepreneurial, as the Conference and Event Planner plays a dynamic role within any organization. Its objective is to expose students to a broad range of knowledge and processes, administration skills, and practical tools that will assist them in dealing with situations within a conference and event planning related career. The program provides the skills to progress into higher-level careers, given the proper combination of skills, experience, personal attributes, and additional training.
Successful graduates will achieve the CMAP Certified Medical Assisting Professional designation, in addition to their diploma. They are fully qualified to work in a hands-on administrative /clinical support capacity in any medical field, such as a unit clerk in a hospital nursing unit or outpatient department. Some of their tasks and duties would include:
Maintaining patient charts and transcribing doctor’s orders related to: surgery, patient activity and patient positioning, nursing unit observation, nursing treatment; dietary, medication, diagnostic imaging, laboratory (including recording of telephoned orders), admission, discharge, transfer, and post-mortem
Admitting, pre-op procedures, and hospital census recording
Patient scheduling including: bed, operating room, ambulatory, ambulance and community special services
Recording vital signs, ordering diets, ordering supplies, processing daily laboratory tests and filing reports, handling emergencies and special services
Administrative duties, including: knowledge of basic lab tests, ability to take vital signs and administer CPR/First Aid, knowledge of medical asepsis and infection control, assist with patient examinations, patient charting and health records, recording basic medical history, transcription
Medical Office AssistantThis program provides students with the base knowledge, skills, and work experience (preceptorship) to become permanently employable in various medical settings. This program is designed to provide employment ready, comprehensively trained graduates. Successful graduates will be eligible to achieve the CMAP® – Certified Medical Assisting Professional designation in addition to their diploma. These graduates are fully qualified to work in a hands on administrative/clinical support capacity in any medical field.

Home Inspection is a young and growing professional consulting service aimed at helping homebuyers make the biggest financial decision of their life. Academy of Learning has partnered with Carson Dunlop to deliver the home inspection program across Canada. The Home Inspection program is designed to introduce students to a vast array of practical and technical skills and tools, preparing them for a career in the Home Inspection industry. This program provides training that links with the professional standards of the Canadian Association of Home and Property Inspectors (CAHPI) and the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI).
This program provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge required to create graphics and Flash animations for the Web, and to plan and design compelling interactive Web sites. It provides in depth knowledge of how to use Macromedia Dreamweaver and Notepad to create Web pages. In addition, the program introduces students to HTML and JavaScript programming, and thereby provides them with a great degree of control over the appearance of their Web sites and skills that are in demand by Web design companies. Students also gain skills and experience in using industry standard graphics programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Macromedia Fireworks to create, edit, and optimize graphics for the Web.
