About University Canada West - Vancouver Campus

At University Canada West you not only get a rigorous academic education and the chance to develop skills that are in demand in today's market, but you get your degree sooner than you would in other post-secondary institutions, so you can get on with your life and your career sooner:

  • Apply and be admitted: no waiting, no wondering. If you are graduating from high school and have a 65% average or better and are motivated to succeed, you have what it takes to be accepted here. Even if all your marks are not available when you apply, we may still consider you for admission, based on the grades you expect to receive.
  • Graduate sooner: Our academic year is built on four ten-week terms within which you can complete five courses per term. Because of this, you will be able to complete a four-year degree program in just two years - a full two years sooner than under the semester system. That is our fastest program. You may prefer to spend one or two terms (in the summer) away from school so you can work, travel, or pursue other interests: you would still finish in less than three years, more than a full year earlier than if you had pursued two semesters of study at some other Canadian University.
  • Get the help you need to succeed. we work on the principle that a student learns best in an environment where there are 35 students or less in a class. Each class is divided into small Learning Teams of five or 6 students who work together and support one another. Most courses, especially those with an enrolment of greater than 12 students have a dedicated Learning Coach to help you succeed at your studies.
  • Live and study in Victoria. Victoria offers outstanding educational opportunities, a stunning natural environment, and a friendly population. Because UCW is located near the heart of this vibrant city, the whole city becomes your campus.

  • Communications
  • Bachelor of Arts: Media and Communications
The electronic and print media together constitute one of the centrally important factors in twenty-first century public and private spheres. Increasingly, the gathering, analysis, interpretation, storing and presentation of information in several media pervasively influence contemporary life. The primary theoretical outcome of the B.A. program in Media and Communications is an understanding of the following: mass media roles in democratic society: theory of communications practices in the circulation of information; legal and ethical responsibilities of media; media roles in relation to government; media as business organizations facilitating economic life; and media roles in public relations. Practical outcomes include communication skills and practices, both written and oral, that are adaptable in a variety of media workplace contexts. The program includes directed studies streams that allow the individual student to choose a topic of interest in one of three general study areas: 1) media writing, 2) media as business or 3) public relations.

  • Business / Management / Office Services
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Technology Management
The growing influence of technology on corporate and personal life is evidenced by the fast pace of change. In fact, the speed of technological innovation may have outstripped coping mechanisms and made planning and decision-making a critical challenge. The result is a need for a better understanding of the related human dynamics and the interface that results. Hence, the management of technology, its application and integration, within the organizational system has become as important as its invention. This program will investigate some of the basics of the relationship between human behaviour and technology within the context of organizational structure. The goal will be to decrease the digital divide between software and hardware, the individual and the team, and the corporation and society. Ultimately, corporate evolution and success will be determined significantly, by how well technology is managed; by leadership in technological application, as opposed to technological leadership. This concentration will cover the following topics: the technological imperative, technological support systems, software productivity, rapid design, strategic information systems, information technology, technological systems and design, production systems, project management, human and technological interface, and the digital divide.
